Happy Friday Eve all! Can you believe six months of the year have almost ended? And six months from yesterday...CHRISTMAS will be upon us. 

As I've said, I'm not much of a Summer crafter so I feel like I'm in a bit of a "CLUMP" aka a Crafting Slump. Emphasis on the LUMP part since that best describes me lately. But, I'm also learning to give myself grace. That doesn't come naturally to me. My dad's regular saying was "Give 110%, minimum" so I've had high expectations since childhood. Plus, I hit ALL the Virgo highlights of being hardest on myself. 

And it's been a hectic year. Mr. Chocolate, as I've shared, has had some health stuff which isn't something he's used to dealing with plus, "MAN". 🫢

There's light at the end of the tunnel when he'll have a surgical procedure next month we're hoping is the end of things.

Fresh Vintage by Lisa S shared how to Water Marble Buttons! I'm pretty sure as Creatives, we ALL have a button collection for various things. What a fun way to play with them with something many of us have on hand: Nail Polish! 

Sonata Home Design is back with an incredible thrifted upcycle. Decoupage medium and napkins combine to make this gorgeous Thrifted Box. 

If you lived through the 80s, you cannot have missed the Cabbage Patch Kid pop culture phenomenon. I was both too old (to want one) and too young (to have to go FIND one as a parent) but you couldn't miss it. Jennifer from Studio 27 immortalizes that period with this Pot Your Own Cabbage Patch Baby project!

Blink. It's Friday Eve already again?! II'm not sure where the week went. It's been another lazy crafting week here. My primary and I have concluded that when I was sick a few weeks ago that it was likely the newsest COVID variant based on the symptoms at the time and the fact that I'm just draggy tired still. Took a test then and it was negative but I'm the QUEEN of inconclusive tests! Even when I took my first pregnancy test...it was supposed to be a + and only half of it appeared. Anyhoo, I'm fine...just low energy. 

So, let's take a look at what some of  YOU have been up to because your creativity is anything but lacking! 

Sonata Home Designs shared how to Decoupage Oyster Shells and Create Flower Wall Art. What a perfect project for Summer of year round beach dwellers. 

Birdz of a Feather shared one of the most genius ideas that serves double duty as A Bib Clip and a piece of Jewelry. As someone who's wished they had a bib a few times while dining, I'm including two pics of this. As jewelry, above and below:

Convert any napkin into a bib! Summer barbecues, clam bakes, lobster rolls, smashing crabs...

From Bay to Beach shared an awesome repurpose with this Summery Bar Cart from a Tea Cart.

Happy Friday Eve and Father's Day Weekend! Wishing all the Dads and Dad figures a happy one. 

Nothing to share this week...busy catching up on a few errands. I was really happy to see that Michaels will pick up some things from JoAnn!

The Michaels Companies, Inc. today announced it has successfully completed the acquisition of the intellectual property and private label brands of JOANN, including the development of the beloved Big Twist® brands as part of the Michaels portfolio.

It will be interesting to see how they incorporate them.

I was in a couple of Dollar Trees this week and there are some deals to be had in some. In one, they had metal signs that are usually in the craft aisle, 4 for $1, and another had their vinyl, also 4 for $1. So peep yours and see what's up!

My French Twist shared how to make these FABULOUS Leather Strap Shelves. Simple and functional. 

Finally, Ann's Entitled Life shared a fun dessert that's perfect for Father's Day: Hamburger Cupcakes!

Happy Friday Eve Creative Peeps! I hope the first week of JUNE (!) has treated you well. Before we know it, Father's Day will be here, it's ongoing graduation and wedding season and Summer vacay for teachers and students. And once again, I'm determined to get a jump on some holiday crafting over the Summer.

This week I share more fun with Dollar Tree Llamas and Carved Boxes! 

There were lots of fun Summer projects and ideas shared at last week's party. Three of these are from repurposed / upcycled materials, which is both economical and ecological! 

The Apple Street Cottage shared how to use Upcycled Materials to make this fabulous Dream Catcher. 

Birdz of a Feather showed how to use Vintage Buttons to create a STUNNING statement necklace! 

Me and My Inklings has a fun craft with this Recycled Pirate Chest Craft! You could make these with littles and then hide treasures for them to find (and keep them busy this Summer!)

 Finally, it's pool season so these Pool Party Cupcakes from Hunny I'm Home DIY are perfect! Ya know...I'm thinking these could be cute IN the above Pirate Chest!

Summer Decor: Stained Boxes and Rainbow Llamas

 

This week's party continues here.

We have these great built-in shelves in our kitchen, and I like to switch things out seasonally. However, I'm not a big Summer Crafter. I kind of fell into my latest idea when I was drawn to two kinds of wood llamas I found at Dollar Tree. I shared one set here, and this is the other. When I saw these carved boxes at DT right next to these llamas, an idea was born. 

I also incorporated my current obsession of paper flower making with tissue paper and coffee filter flowers. 

Supplies:

• Wood Llamas
• Carved Wood Boxes
• Faux Stain (I used the diluted acrylic paint from coffee filter flowers)
• Acrylic Paint, White
• Gem Mesh Ribbon
• Self Adhesive Rhinestones
• Glue Gun and Glue

They look to me like they were made for each other! I painted the llamas with a coat of white acrylic paint (not shown). I wanted them to be simple since I had a plan to bling them up.

I had "dye" left over from dyeing coffee filters, and since the boxes were destined for the same place, the color coordination was perfect. I used a paintbrush to apply. 

Here are the boxes all stained! Don't ask me why I decided to use them upside down. I thought they'd make cool "stands" for the llamas, that's why! 

I had this Gem Mesh from DT in my stash and it gave me an idea. I decided to use it as a border around the boxes, and since it's two rows, I cut them apart and used one row per box. Attached with hot glue. 

Now it was time to finish the llamas! 

I had this sheet of rainbow rhinestones in my stash that were perfect. They coordinated with the Gem Mesh colors and my overall palette. Unfortunately, I didn't take pics as they were being applied but it's pretty self-explanatory!

Did I mention these light up! Like a dummy, I tested one in the store, but not the other and of course...only one works so learn from my mistake. No biggie. I love them unlit too. 

And now, they're at home on our shelves!

Happy Friday Eve and almost Summer. I know we consider it Summer as soon as Memorial Day hits but then officially it's not for a few  more weeks...Sprummer?  I hope everyone had a good week and long weekend. 

Getting over some crud that got me. A couple more days of antibiotics. The saying "If it's not one thing, it's another" remains true!

I did get a chance to play with leftovers this week. I shared how I used the paper towel I'd used to absorb excess dye from my Dyed Coffee Filters, as its own craft supply!
