BFF Open House

Happy Friday Eve and Mother's Day Weekend to everyone celebrating. I qualify that because one of the things I appreciate about getting older is learning that what is joyous for some, isn't always for all. And maybe I'm just in a contemplative mood. Didn't really create anything this past week and I try to keep things focused on the creative here but I also try to keep it real. I lost my favorite cousin who was more like an Aunt. We started losing her to dementia about 6 years ago but she entered hospice a week ago last Friday and then made her transition.

I mention her here especially because she was a Creative! A lifelong seamstress who immigrated to the US from Trinidad and Tobago worked in the New York garment district, then for a Seattle-based company that for years made a lot of Nordstrom house brand clothing. She was one of those talents who could look at a piece of clothing and whip out a replica. She kept my mom, me, and other relatives in style!  She was also a great cook but like others of her generation, kept my favorite recipes of hers in her head, always promising to share them in a someday that was stolen by dementia. I will continue trying to crack the code to replicate them!

She honored me by keeping every handmade card or piece of jewelry and encouraged my own creativity.

May flights of angels sing thee to thy rest, Carmen.

OK let's see some of the creativity shared at last week's party. Do you have a special relative who inspired your creativity?

I don't know why things look better elevated but they just do. This DIY Painted Wood Riser from Crazy Little Love Birds is just perfect for holding a candle, small plant, or vase. It's also just pretty!

It's prime party season with graduations, weddings, Memorial Day and Fourth of July gatherings, birthdays, showers...you name it. And garlands just make everything seem more festive right? You'll want to check out these DIY Crepe Paper Garlands from Simple Joys. Color possibilities? Endless!

Got buttons? Fabric and craft stores or thrift stores often have bags of assorted colors and sizes and this idea from Artsy Karma to use them to create a fun Button Canvas Art project.

Finally, doesn't this look delicious? Don't try to cut it though because it's...CAKE PANS! I shouldn't have spoiled it but I didn't want anyone looking for a Strawberry Cake recipe at Studio 27 by Jennifer Adams. It's a fabulous centerpiece for a party or kitchen decor.

Thanks to everyone who linked up and as always, can't wait to see what you've been up to this week!

Yikes. Another week flew by like that. Happy Halloweekend Creative Peeps! Can you believe Halloween is already here and Thanksgiving isn't far behind.

Remember last week when I mentioned Summits? Well there's another one I just signed up for and whether you're already a cardmaker or have wanted to become one, this is perfect. Check out the Card Maker Success Summit that will be hosted by Brandi McMahon and sponsored by Stamp Me Some Love on November 12:

It will be a full day of livestreams with different brands and makers complete with some giveaways. Can't beat the price which is FREE!

I was also very honored to have my Spooky Season jewelry featured at this week's Vintage Charm Party (held every Wednesday) hosted by Our Hopeful Home!

As always there were so many wonderful ideas shared at last week's party so here are a few.

Jennifer Adams from Studio 27 shared her thrifted and repurposed Easter to Halloween Tree! Make a note to start scouting the thrift stores now through Spring for one of these!

Meet Leonard, the Debonair Vampire who graces this tablescape shared by The Yellow Corner Store. Dashing, isn't he?

I've seen a lot of mushrooms throughout the past couple of years' holiday decor. Check out the ingenious way Cecelia from My Thrift Store Addiction has taken them up a notch with these fragrant and pretty Cinnamon Stick Mushrooms. Love these!

Finally, need a quick but fun snack for Halloween? You can't go wrong with these Edible Spiderwebs from Simple Joys!

Thank you to everyone who linked up. I love seeing all of your creations.

Let's take a look at what everyone's been up to this week. I hope you have a wonderful Halloweekend and a

Happy Friday Eve! Happy JUNE! Yikes. Things have a way of speeding up from here. It's hard to believe we're already in the sixth month of 2022 but here we are. Hope you've all had a wonderful week. June is Graduation and Wedding season as well as the end of school for many. I remember the excitement of counting down the days until the end of the school year, even though it's been "a minute".

Very honored to have received not one but TWO Hometalk features recently! The first for a Summer project I did a while ago: Easy Summer Decor . The second is for a more recent project: Layered Rose Monogram.  If you're not familiar with Hometalk, you really should check it out. Not only is it another great source of inspiration, but they are also so supportive of creative bloggers with things like features, webinars, newsletters etc. You can follow me on there here. There are also sister sites for DIY Fashion and Cooking. Upstyle and Foodtalk

Let's take a look at some of the fun ideas shared at last week's party!

Two Chicks and a Mom shared these awesome DIY Graduation Pinatas that are so cute!

You "do nut" want to miss this idea from Studio 27 by Jennifer Adams. Baking Pans Turned Wall Decor! Calorie free.

I did something similar when my son was young and there's something about kids having something fun to check off doing their chores, Summer or all year round. This is a great one from Lamberts Lately is perfect!

Finally, ice cream just screams Summer and what better way to celebrate the season than with some DIY Wall Art / Summer Ice Cream Painting?! From Love My Little Cottage.

Thanks to everyone who shared their amazing creativity and let's see what you've been up to this week!

Happy Friday Eve all. Big weekend ahead for everyone celebrating Passover which starts tomorrow, and Easter. Spring is humming happily along. Next up we'll be preparing for Mother's Day, Graduations, etc. Hope you've all had a great week. I know there have been some crazy weather swings. Saw a hail storm in Seattle and my son told me it was like the Wizard of Oz in his neck of the woods.

Here are a few of the amazing and inspiring projects that caught my eye from last week's part!

How cute are these Bunny and Chick Beanbags from Creatively Beth?! These are huggable size.

I love paper flowers and they can be used for so many different things. Love this pretty Spring Wreath from Crafts a la Mode

One of the easiest and most inexpensive ways to change up your decor is making a DIY Canvas like this one from Studio 27. All of the craft stores have stock up sales throughout the year and I make sure to do so! Paint and vinyl and instant wall art!

Confession: I am not a Sushi fan. Want to be. Have tried to be. Just can't. Our son loves it, as does everyone we know it seems. But Oreo Sushi? Now, this has my name on it! From Drugstore Divas

Thank you to EVERYONE who linked up and WELCOME to first-timers.

Now let's see what you've all been up to this week! Again, whatever you may be celebrating this weekend, Happy Happy!

Achoo! I mean Happy Friday Eve. Just a little allergy humor. While a lot of the country has been under snow and ice, allergens are kicking my behind here in the desert. So this week the most creative thing I've done this week is figure out which combination of allergy and sinus meds to take. I hope everyone else is having a good week!

As always, lots of wonderfully creative ideas shared at last week's party so let's take a look at a few!

Need some last minute Valentine's inspiration? Check out this beautiful Box of Roses idea from Studio 27 by Jennifer Adams! Beautiful.

Another great and easy way to decorate comes from Fresh Vintage by Lisa S with these Coffee Filter Hearts strung on a branch to make a Valentine's tree.

I've been wanting to get back into crocheting and this Baby Blanket with Pom Poms from Howling Liz is just perfect!

And finally, this Orange Ginger Vinaigrette from Homemade on a Weeknight looks and sounds so delicious!

Thanks to everyone who linked up. Now let's see what you've all been up to this week!

We are in the home stretch Makers! My best present and the one I want the most in the whole world is on his way. Son and Granddog are headed this way and can't wait until they get here.

Every time I mail cards I hold my breath in suspense until one of the recipients confirms receipt because the Post Office can sometimes hate me for my thicker than normal cars. Whew! This week I shared the Christmas cards I made this year along with some last minute Peppermint Gnome candle additions to my Hot Chocolate Bar.

You all have been quite busy so let's take a look at some of the wonderful things shared at last week's party!

Fresh Lisa by Lisa S shared a way to bring even more vintagey goodness to bottlebrush trees using faucet handles! Love.

The DIY Dreamer shared a wonderful way to create ornaments from old light bulbs (I've also seen lightbulb ornaments).

Brilliant! We've seen doll houses transformed into Haunted Houses but Jennifer from Studio 27 has taken it to a whole 'nother level by making a Gingerbread House! Genius.

Finally, given my husband's Norwegian background and my own ties to Denmark, I really need to make this one year. This is a traditional Danish Christmas dessert shared by Lazy Budget Chef. We do have a tradition of Nisse gifts so I really should make this for Nisse night which we celebrate on 12/23!

OK. Now let's see what everyone's been up to this week!
