BFF Open House

Happy Friday Eve, all! Hope you all had a safe and uneventful Fourth. We live in what's called a dark sky town so we didn't have any fireworks and considering how dry and fire-prone we are, that was just fine by me. Hopefully your four-legged friends weren't too affected.

JoAnn is having some great sales right now and I couldn't resist more beads. I re-purposed a pair of earrings I decided I no longer liked and made a new pair with some of the beads I picked up!

Let's take a look at some of the fun ideas shared at last week's party!

A Life Unfolding shared a wonderful DIY project in this Craft Cocktail Garden. Works as an herb garden for cooking if you're not a cocktail person!

Sonata Home Design shared an incredible DIY Coffee Table Ottoman. Great space saver and you'll never guess one of the "secret ingredient" supplies!

Simple Joys shared a pretty and green project with this Recycled Magazine Page Wreath. In this tech driven world, I love seeing projects that don't require anything more than imagination, a few supplies, and easily accessible materials!

Finally, Cindy's Online Recipe Box shared these  Decadent Devils-Food Mini Cakes. Betcha can't eat just one!

Thank you all for sharing and can't wait to see what you've been up to this week!

Jewelry Making: Silver and Grey Owl Earrings

I had a "hoot" making these. Couldn't resist. But I did have fun and what's great about being able to make your own jewelry is when you get tired of something you can switch out parts and make something new! I had a different pair I didn't love so I took them apart and can repurpose the parts. I used the tops for these.

Supplies
  • Charms to use as earring posts*
  • Jump Rings
  • Head Pins
  • Silver Ball Beads
  • Jewelry Pliers
  • Owl Ceramic Beads (JoAnn)

I don't have pierced ears, so I'm always on the hunt for charms or small pendants to which I can glue clip-backs. You could do the same with post-backs or skip this part and use fish hook earring wires.

JoAnn is having a LOT of great sales lately. For your fabric crafters, I just got an email that they have a whole selection of fabrics priced as low as $2 per yard! I picked these beads up when they had all Hildie and Jo beads 3 for $10 and now they have them 4 for $10! Yes, I'm going back.

I love owls and couldn't resist these cute little guys. I grabbed some silver ball beads from my stash along with head pins and jump rings and strung a silver bead, an owl bead, and another silver bead onto a head pin.

If you're using ear wires, you can make a wrapped loop and attach to the ear wire. Since the clip backs were already attached to these, I just attached the two parts together with a jump ring.

I think I saw these owls came in blue too so now that beads are on an even better sale...

Papercrafting: Birthday Card in Two Colors

I finally got back to making! Have a couple of early July birthdays and didn't plan on making matching cards but while looking through the paper stack I realized that the same paper came in two different colors and...

Supplies
  • Recollections Background Paper (Watercolor Stack)
  • Recollections 110lb Cardstock
  • Recollections Foiled Papers
  • Birthday SVG File
  • Birthday Balloon Stickers
  • Tape Runner
  • Double Sided Foam Tape

I decided on the patterned papers then pulled coordinating solid papers and cardstock from my stash.

I wanted to accent the gold foil in the background papers and chose gold for the top layer and silver for the layer that would show the present.

I cut out the SVG file layers, ending with the gold layer, and attached with my ATG Tape Runner, foam tape, and spray adhesive and did the same for the pink card.

I saved the present cutouts and added some washi tape and rhinestones to accent the cards, then chose some balloon stickers (Dollar Tree) from my stash to embellish te middle balloon. Et, voila!

Happy Friday Eve from the laziest Maker in the Southwest! I've been shopping and pinning but I have just been L A Z Y about making. I think it's coming off of being so busy with The Mumster's fall in April and subsequent rehab, follow-up doctor's appointments and then things finally slowing and settling down and I just need to get motivated. So July, right?!

Have taken some workshops, picked up some Procreate and Cricut Design Space tips and tricks and absolutely love seeing what everyone else is up to. With that, let's take a look at some things shared last week!

Steph Creates shared this beautiful DIY Frosted Candleholder. Make some for you or for a holiday gift.

Thrifting Wonderland shared a project involving one of my favorite things to shop for at thrift shops: A Candlestick Recycle along with wonderful found books to make a lovely vignette.

Cincy Shopper share this festive Ice Cream Cake that would be perfect for Fourth of July or other Summer celebrations.

Finally, Summer is popsicle season! If you want to have an adult version, these Piña Colada Popsicles from Rose Bakes are PERFECT! Skip the rum if alcohol isn't for you.

Thanks to all who linked up! Wishing you all a wonderful (and cool!) weekend.

Happy Friday Eve Creative Peeps! I hope everyone is managing to stay cool since it's HOT everywhere. Even though we think we're acclimated to the desert, for some reason we're both feeling the heat more this year.

I also hope everyone who celebrated had a nice Father's Day and the fathers in your lives felt loved and appreciated. We took a day trip over to Tombstone (that one...I'm Your Huckleberry Tombstone) which is a fun drive from us and picked up some fudge from our favorite place there FALLEN ANGEL SWEET SIN PARLOR and then spent a quiet day at home on Father's Day talking to our son and with Mr. Chocolate getting his favorite Nachos for dinner.

It's hard to believe that July Fourth is around the corner but it is! Here are some fun ideas from last week's party to celebrate!

Darcy and Brian shared these fun Popsicle Stick Rockets, fun for adults and kids alike to make!

Sonata Home Design shared a perfect for Summer entertaining idea: Reversible No Sew Placemats

Walking On Sunshine Recipes shared yet another twist on Charcuterie with these Patriotic Charcuterie Cups

Finally, how cute are these Red, White, and Blue Pudding Shots from Ann's Entitled Life ? What a great dessert and/or addition to a dessert table!

Thanks to everyone who linked up and wishing you a wonderful weekend! Stay hydrated.

Happy Friday Eve, all! I hope it's been a good week for everyone. We've been under a heat advisory a bit earlier than normal so I think we're all in for a hot hot Summer. Looks like the East coastis next. Stay as cool as you can and HYDRATE!!

To everyone celebrating Father's Day this weekend, have a happy one! I lost my dad young so it's always a day to remember him but also to celebrate the wonderful father Mr. Chocolate is. Truly, a wonderful father, teacher, adviser, and since our son is an adult, friend. Couldn't have asked for a better partner to parent with. I love you!

Steph Creates shared another gorgeous Dollar Tree transformation. They always have these trays and she both kept it simple and made it beautiful with this Floral Painted Tray!

Simple Everyday Mom shared a fun Minion Father's Day Card. Perfect for Father's Day and the newest movie that's out soon.

Ann's Entitled Life shared these Hamburger Cupcakes that would be a great Father's Day dessert or perfect for any Summer gathering.

Hunny I'm Home shared a modern twist on a classic dessert with these Strawberry Shortcake Kabobs. also great for Father's Day or Summer!

Thanks to everyone who linked up and can't wait to see what you've been up to this week! Again, wishing all celebrating, a Happy Father's Day!
