BFF Open House

Happy Friday Eve All! I hope everyone's had a good week and looking forward to a long weekend and the unofficial/official kick-off of Summer. I'm not sure if we've officially had a 100-degree day yet but it's imminent.

Anyone else get an email from JoAnn showing they already have Halloween in?! And it's 40% off.

There's still lots of time for remaining Spring and Summer crafting though and here are some ideas from last week's party!

Try It Like It shared yet another fun way to play with Sharpie Markers to make this colorful Tag Background.

Sonata Home Design shared how to Decoupage Under Glass but with a twist: a textured plate.

Master Pieces of My Life shared how to transform ordinary cans into these beautiful Moss Covered Containers.

Finally, with warmer weather no-bake treats are wonderful. These No Bake Truffles from At Home With Lisa are just the thing.

Thanks to everyone who linked up and can't wait to see what's in store this week!

Wishing everyone a safe and happy Memorial Day weekend.

BFF Open House

Happy Friday Eve Creative Peeps! I hope you've had a good week and those who celebrated had a Happy Mother's Day. My mom and I agreed we'd celebrate Monday vs Sunday since she had an appointment I was taking her to and after having visitors last week, following three weeks of Mom recovering from her fall, I did N O T H I N G! Talked to our son, Mr. Chocolate made brunch, sat in my chair and it was glorious!

I saw something that referenced "Maycember" that echoed my thoughts last week that from here on out, it's full speed ahead!

Let's take a look at some of the creativity shared last week!

24 Hour Family understands! This Mama needs her coffee. Check out a collection of Coffee Mug Quotes for a favorite mug or tumbler!

Artsy Karma has a collection of 25 Amazing Alcohol Ink on Glass ideas!

Try It-Like It shared how to upgrade plain Dollar Tree Butterfly Stickers into beautiful ephemera to use in projects!

Yes, I almost always choose a chocolate feature but these Lemon Meringue Pie Cookies from Ann's Entitled Life are so bright and Summery!

Thank you to everyone who linked up. Can't wait to see what you've got to share this week!

BFF Open House. On Time and With Features!

Happy Friday Eve all, and Happy Mother's Day Weekend to all celebrating. I hope you've all had a wonderful week. My mom is doing great and so very happy to be home.

I'm determined this year, to start holiday crafting as early as I plan to start holiday crafting each year so don't be surprised if you see some out of season things early because in order not to forget and post them DURING the season, I'm going to try and do them as I make them.

Let's see some of the fun inspiration from last week's party. Thank you for all of the support and kind comments last week!

Crazy Little Lovebirds shared these pretty and practical DIY Mushroom Pin Cushions made from recycled jars!

Steph Creates has yet another amazing creation from simple materials with this DIY Spring Wood Riser

Hunny I'm Home has a FUN collection of Farmouse Kitchen Printables you need to check out.

Finally, Cindy's Online Recipe Box shared these decadent Butterscotch Swirl Brownie Cookie Bars. Enough said!

I'm Late...I'm Late...BFF Open House

Well...between getting my mom out of the rehab facility (she was packed and READY to go!) then coming down with a stomach bug, it's been a week so apologies because I completely forgot about my own party!

Will do features next week and just putting this up late!

BFF Open House

Happy Friday Eve already again! Time's been going by even faster with driving back and forth to the hospital and now rehab center where my mom was released to this past weekend. Thank you for the well wishes last week. She's doing well. She's teeny tiny so getting her back to full strength has been the focus. As I've told the staff and she's made very clear, she's "highly motivated" to get sprung.

I shared something I made for my newest "Fairy Grandbaby" who's due next month: Musical Monogram

Lots of fun inspiration to look at from last week's party so let's take a look at a few ideas! But can I scare you first? Today marks eight months until Christmas. Just sayin'!

Darcy and Brian shared a great project for Mother's Day or a Teacher Gift in this Tissue Paper Frame.

Steph Creates shared another incredible Dollar Tree hack with this Upcycled Tin Container Solar Light.

Simple Joys shared how to make Mini Pinatas (I can never get the tilde to appear) which are perfect with Cinco de Mayo approaching or just because.

And finally, since Passover continues here is a fabulous Matzo Meal Brownie recipe from Cindy's Online Recipe Box that can be made now or any time! Matzo also comes gluten-free.

Thanks to everyone who linked up and can't wait to see this week's creativity!

Papercrafting: Musical Monogram

I am "Other Mother" to one of my bestie's daughters who is expecting her second child next month. The parents-to-be own a music store and Dad and Grandpa both play guitar. As part of their baby shower gift I made this framed Musical Monogram.

Supplies
  • Coordinating Papers
  • Music Themed Alphabet (I downloaded from Creative Fabrica)
  • 12x12 Shadowbox Frame
  • Paper Punch
  • Embellishments
  • Double Sided and Foam Tapes

I selected the letter I needed from the alphabet I downloaded, sized, and imported into Cricut Design Space. Putting some things I learned last month in a workshop to use, I added a guitar from the CDS store and "sliced" a guitar image out the body of the top layer of the letter, then cut two guitars from silver glitter cardstock and layered them onto black pieces I also cut.

I created two background layers for the Z using the Contour feature to remove the detail from the white layer, leaving it solid, and then using the Offset feature in Design Space to create the black background.

I used foam tape on the back of the white layer to attach to the black layer.

To finish, I used some textured rhinestones as shown. The top layer of the monogram is black glitter paper. Can you tell there's a "Rock Star" theme here?

I've said before I stock up on these frames whenever they're a BOGO at Michaels. They are so perfect for making home decor or gifts like this one.

I grabbed a large star punch from my punch collection and punched out a few stars which I attached with foam tape. Et, voila!

I also found this great little book to include along with the other items in their gift. Looking forward to meeting my newest Grandbaby. We won't be grandparents biologically, but I get to play Fair Grandmother!

BFF Open House

Happy Friday Eve all. Another week of life being what happens when you're busy making other plans. My mom took a fall and has been in the hospital since last Friday night. Hopefully, by the time you read this, she'll have been released.

A departure from my usual creative commentary. PSA: PLEASE start much younger than you think is necessary understanding your aging parents realities. Finances, important papers, wishe. No, it's not fun. But it will save you and them peace of mind even if you or they don't think so. Same with cleaning out their homes as needed. My mother is a self-entitled pack rat. We went through a nightmare moving her out of her house and her apartment has become just as cluttered. If your parents are already minimalists...GOOD!

Alright, let's take a look at a few things from last week's party!

Our Tiny Nest shared how to make DIY Tea Bags with Personalized Tags! What a great gift to make for multiple occasions from Mother's Day to showers or just because.

Condo Blues shared a recipe for another great gift idea or to make to spoil yourself. Lavender Bath Salts. Dress up with a pretty jar, fun label, or tag!

My French Twist shared a great tutorial about How to Print on Fabric (I'm also giggling at the sentiment). Great for decor or making personalized gifts etc.

Finally, Ann's Entitled Life shared this delicious looking Coca-Cola Cake! How perfect for showers or other Spring events!

Thanks to all who linked up and can't wait to see what you've been up to this week!
