BFF Open House

Happy Friday Eve, and mid-October, all! Full speed ahead to the end of the year and so many holidays. I continue to be heartbroken by the news and what's happening in Israel and the ongoing news out of Ukraine, and being able to escape into creating things is therapeutic. I finished my Halloween Cards for friends and family, which I shared here. There's so much hate and destruction in the world that without trivializing any of it, seeing the beauty you all create each week helps soothe my soul.

Pumpkins are everywhere. I am partial to the ones some people find ugly. The differently shaped or knotty ones in non-traditional colors. Let's take a look at some ideas.

Steph Creates really knocked it out of the park with this DIY Pumpkin Display made from supplies Dollar Tree.

Fresh Vintage by Lisa S shared these fabulous Baking Pan Pumpkins. Hit the thrift stores (or your cupboards) and grab some spray paint!
With holiday entertaining season upon us, these Fall Themed Stamped Tumbled Tile Coasters from An Artful Mom make a lovely hostess gift or if you're hosting, can you ever have enough coasters?

Finally, these Classic Pumpkin Scones (served with Maple Thyme Butter!) are perfect for this time of year. From The Copper Table.

As always, thanks to all who link up each week and WELCOME to first timers! Let's see what you've been up to this week. Take care of yourselves!

Papercrafting: 2023 Halloween Cards

I'm easing back not only into making things but also getting them posted, after my unintentional Summer Break. It doesn't take long to forget the work that goes into taking pictures, uploading and photo-editing them, planning out a post, etc.

Of course, I never take a break from being on the lookout for supplies and ideas and in early September, I didn't skip or delay picking up a fun Halloween Paper stack at Michaels. I needed an escape from the news over the weekend so I got busy making cards for family and friends. I love that a few people keep these and pull them out each year as part of their decor.

Supplies:

  • Witch's Lair 12x12 Paper Stack (Recollections, Michaels)
  • Black 110 lb Cardstock (Recollections, Michaels)
  • Gold Foil 65lb Cardstock (Recollections, Michaels)
  • Gold Star Transparency (Stash)
  • Tape Runner or Double Sided Tape
  • Self Adhesive Rhinestones

This is the stack I used which comes with a mix of plain, foiled, and panel sheets. As much as I love my digital cutting machines, I love these kinds of paper stacks because the panel sheets are perfect focals for cards.

I generally make my cards 5x7 which I did for these. Cut the black cardstock 7x10 then score in the middle. For the background panels, I chose a few different papers in the stack.

The panel pages always come in different sizes. If you're not into card making you can simply cut and frame some of them!

Cut and trim the panels you want to use, and then mat with coordinating paper. I used the gold foil or black cardstock.

I picked up the coordinating washi tape in the Witch's Lair collection which I attached to some of the panels before adhering them to the background panel.

To finish, I used self adhesive rhinestones to add a little glam!

Happy Friday Eve, all. Hope everyone's had a good week. Finally had a couple of days where I got to switch to my Fall attire of Halloween leggings because it cooled off enough. It's the little things, right? It's also holiday full steam ahead time. I was able to get my house "haunted" so now I can work on Halloween cards for friends and family.

Lots of great Halloween inspiration at last week's party so let's take a look at some!

My Halloween tastes continue to get creepier so these DIY Halloween Oddities Jars from Studio 27 are right up my creepy alley!

Those jars would fit right in with this Bone Apetit Tablescape from Master Pieces of  My Life

I'm always in on a good Dollar Store Makeover and this Mirror Upgrade from Crazy Little Lovebirds. Perfect for a gothic Halloween, everyday decor, or both, is perfect!

Finally, it's both Pumpkin Spice and Hot Chocolate season so why not combine them into one? That's what Our Tiny Nest did as well as shared ideas for a Hocus Pocus party!

Thank you to all who linked up and can't wait to see what creative mischief you've gotten up to this week!

It's Fall Y'all. Do you know how I know despite it still being 100 degrees where I am? I've already seen the annual Balsam Hill Christmas tree ads, Walmart and others have Christmas trees up, and Michaels has their Christmas paper stacks out. See? You know it's FALL when Christmas appears.

"But seriously"...I love Fall even though it's brief here in the desert. We are surrounded by pecan groves in Southern AZ and I can't wait until they're ready to harvest. Let's take a look at some inspiring Fall ideas shared at last week's party!

Halloween first. These Cute and Spooky Halloween Ghost Candles from The House on Silverado are fun and festive, plus made elegant in the crystal candle holders!

The Apple Street Cottage shared some beautiful ideas showing How to Decorate for Fall on a Budget.

Maybe you've foud some vintage silverware while thrifting or have some family pieces that just sit in a drawer. Fresh Vintage by Lisa S showed how to transform them into Beads, Jewelry, and Home Decor items.

Finally, Sonata Home Design shared these absolutely gorgeous Fall Leaf Pie Crust Cookies. Too pretty to eat!

Thank you to everyone who linked up and can't wait to see what you've been up to this week!

Fall is in the air! Granted, here that means days finally under 100 degrees, but I'll take it. ALMOST out of shorts and sundress weather. Had a fabulous birthday weekend this past weekend and continuing to celebrate with more September baby friends and their upcoming special days.

I love Fall with all of its changing colors and cooler days. Let's take a look at some of the beautiful Fall inspiration shared at last week's party!

My favorite type of project is transforming something ordinary into something pretty and extraordinary. Steph Creates did exactly that with this inviting Upcycled Fall Floral Decoration

This inspired Fall Tablescape from My Thrift Store Addiction is a perfect way to transition. Love all the greens!

These look good enough to eat, don't they? Studio 27 shared her "Faux" Fall Decor that is convincingly real! Great way to get the feel of a bakery without the calories.

Finally, Fall (for me) is soup weather and hearty ones that can be a whole meal are my fave. This Cream Cheese Potato Soup from Rose Bakes fills the bill!

Thanks to everyone who linked up and can't wait to see what you've been up to this week!

Happy Friday Eve, mid-September, almost Fall, and Happy Birthday Weekend to me! I am counting down the last couple of days of my 5th decade before embarking on my 6th! I don't have any fancy giveaways or anything to celebrate but I do have my ongoing thanks to each of you who share and link up each week. I love having a community that is as passionate about creating as I am and that gets as excited as I do about new materials, trends etc! So thank YOU all for giving me that present every week.

I'm having a bit of FOMO (fear of missing out) with the ascendence of Laser Cutters like those from Glowforge (can't justify the expense) or X-Tool (some more affordable models). Just when I'm mastering my Cricut Explore Air and Maker, here comes a next level trend! Any of you feel this way? I just keep telling myself there's always going to be another thing but since I don't run a business, I'm just going to watch and wait to see if prices come down or Cricut maybe comes out with their own.

I did get back to creating if for a less than happy reason. I shared these Memorial Bracelets this week. Also plotting out my Halloween cards for friends and family.

OK! Let's take a look at some of the inspiring ideas from last week's party!

I'm so ready for Fall! Thrifting Wonderland shared this beautiful Fall Entryway vignette to get us in the mood!

Krafty Planner shared how to make fun Halloween Pillow Covers using Heat Transfer Vinyl!

Sew Crafty Crochet shared this amazing Three Strip Flower Scarf. Perfect for chilly weather!

If I cheat on chocolate, it's bound to be for something apple or cinnamon and these Cresent Roll Dumplings from The Kitchen Is My Playground have BOTH! Don't apples scream Fall?

Thanks to all who linked up. Wishing you all a wonderful weekend!
