BFF Open House Link Party

Happy Friday and official start of Fall Eve all!  I think we can all agree "Mother Nature, the world has had enough of you for a while".

Thinking of the people in Mexico, Puerto Rico, the Caribbean who all got hit this week, along w/ FL , Houston and everyone recovering from recent weeks.

Let's take our minds off things with some pretties OK?

I love tiered things. Height always seems to bring depth. This DIY Modern Farmhouse Tiered Tray  from Diane at An Extraordinary Day is so perfect!

If this mantel doesn't scream Fall, complete with the perfect F A L L letters, I don't know what does. See it all at Vintage Paint and More

Would you guess that these birch candles are faux? Check out Chas' Crazy Creations to see how!

Now, let's see what everyone's been up to this week!

BFF Open House Link Party

Happy Friday Eve all! Hope it's been a good week for everyone. Easter weekend is upon us so here are some last minute ideas to try or Pin for next year!

This Spring vignette from An Extraordinary Day can stay up well after Easter. I love all the pussy willows and that big moss egg along w/ the golden eggs and birds. Wondering if that little bunny is chocolate?

The only thing better than Pottery Barn is a great PB knockoff like this glittered bunny from Pugs and Paisley. Fess up. Who (else) walks through PB saying "I can make that".

Speaking of Pottery Barn, this stunning floral table runner from Bird's Party looks like it could have come out of their catalog doesn't it? So pretty and and would be perfect for a Mother's Day or bridal shower table.

If you need an addition to your dessert table, these Chocolate Cake Bites Wrapped in Coconut from Make Easy Cakes is just the thing. For me, chocolate and coconut is an irresistible combination!

Now on to this week's party!

Card Making: Valentine's Day

Happy Valentine's Day!

One upside to our snow day last week was it gave me a chance to finish this year's Valentine's Day cards. Fortunately I'd already cut out my focal images using my Silhouette Cameo since the power was out. The rest didn't require any electricity!

My colors this year were black, cream and fuschia.

Here are the papers and supplies I used:
  • Black metallic Stardream cardstock
  • Cream Cardstock
  • My  Minds Eye "From the Heart" gold foil heart paper
  • Craft Smith gold foiled paper
  • Recollections gold mirror and fuschia glitter paper
  • Watercolor paper
  • Watercolor paints

I chose an image from the Silhouette Design Store and cut it from gold mirror cardstock. Waste not want not, this image resulted in a positive and negative so I had the hearts that were leftover from the middle of the framed image if that makes any sense, and used those as well.

For the "framed hearts" as I'll call them, I mounted on cream cardstock, then the fuschia glitter paper. I cut a panel from the gold foiled heart paper ( 4x6) and mounted to the Stardream black card (5x7) and then mounted the focal as shown.

For the cards I made using the center hearts, I played around with some watercolors I picked up recently on a BOGO ( buy one get one free) at Aaron Brothers. Cone to think of it , the watercolor pad was from a previous Aaron Brothers BOGO. Spotting a trend?

I just played around and made some background paper ( oh I added some gold mica inks):

I trimmed this , mounted on black then gold paper and attached the gold mirror heart with a foam dot.

I finished each style of card with gold sequins!

BFF Open House Link Party #151

The Answer Is Chocolate

Friday Eve...best day of the week! Hope none of you endured any awful April Fool's day pranks. Not a fan of that day.

Here are some inspiring ( inspire Spring?) ideas from last week's party:

My readers know I love making cards. This one from It's Always Ruetten is a must make idea. Perfect for so many occasions.

Spring and birds go together don't they? I really like this layered stencil bird project from Laura at Pet Scribbles

Doreen over at Altered Artworks took her love of altering things to a bigger level. Ab fab makeover of this flea market found metal file cabinet to some new Industrial Chic storage for her workroom.

I couldn't believe that this gorgeous cake was Diane's first attempt at cake decorating. Visit An Extraordinary Day for the details. I can assure you , my first attempt looked nothing like this. I'm not even sure it looked like cake! Easter, Mother's Day, showers ...

Finally this week's chocolate feature. Simple, classic, delicious and never tire of this combination. Chocolate Peanut Butter Bars from The Pin Junkie
