To Everything There Is A Season: Damask Sympathy Card

A friend of ours recently lost his father so I made this card to express our sympathy.

Paper Reverie Sympathy

I used a paper from the Paper Reverie line by Making Memories. Hard to see here but the damask design is glittered. The quote I used on the card is on a Hero Arts stamp that I have used before for sympathy cards:

This seemed appropriate because our friend’s dad struggled with age related memory loss and I wanted to remind him that while his dad is gone and may not have remembered some things lately, all the days they shared together are still with him.

The upside to being a stashaholic is that you have things on hand that may not have been intended to go together but do. Like this paper and these oversized brads by American Crafts.

I kept the design pretty simple with layers and clean edges ( mostly …had to use one torn panel and a decorative adhesive scrapbook border)

Pick Your Poison: Altered Halloween Bottles

oneprettything

So, Mr. Chocolate likes an adult beverage from time to time which means I get some pretty cool bottles. I’m not saying I encourage him to drink the contents faster or anything .
Altered Halloween Bottles
I’m upgrading our Halloween décor each year to a more muted palette. I started with a crackled kraft colored scrapbook paper that went around each bottle followed by a black and white polka dot paper with torn edges. Mod Podged these on.

On the top and bottom of the paper, I added a row of sequened ribbon using double sided tape. Then I went to my sticker stash and had a round silver and rhinestone frame sticker from Making Memories and a silver foil sticker leftover from  a previous project.

I picked up a package of “poision labels” at Michaels from their Recollection line ( 40% off of course) and those went on the bottles. Finished with black velveteen ribbon around the neck ( which already had a black wax finish…perfect!) added a button, and a skull rhinestone leftover from last year’s cards.

Cricut, Cocoa, and Pearls

I’m back to working on Valentine’s cards and still keeping with my neutral chocolate inspired theme. This batch, I used my Cricut Expression, specifically the "Lovestruck” cart.
We have a regional chain of stores called Paper Zone and they are my go to place for all of my cardstock and envelopes, but they carry a great line of scrapbooking supplies, specialty papers etc. I fell in love with Making Memories Paper Reverie line because it was exactly my color scheme. Look at this fun tape:

I also found these strips of adhesive pearls at Michaels:

And this reversible paper from the Reverie collection mentioned above:

I cut out two different hearts using my Cricut. With the Lovestruck cart you can cut a detailed heart plus a solid one to put behind it . Here’s one of the cards:

I cut the detailed heart from cream C’Oredinations paper and the solid heart from a chocolate brown paper. I used the brown polka dotted tape on the left side along with a strip of the brown pearls and finished with a button and adhesive rhinestone in the middle.

For another card, I did the reverse color combo on the hearts…brown detail with cream backing:

Embellished with the polka dot tape, brown buttons, pearls, and a strip of combo rhinestone and pearls. I need some chocolate!
