BFF Open House Link Party

The Answer Is Chocolate

Happy Friday Eve all. How is it already the end of April?! Hope you've all had a good week. Here are some ideas from last week's party!

My walls may not be filled with exclusive fine art but they are filled with pieces I've enjoyed making. If you like doing your own , A Pretty Fix has a great idea for a whitewashed abstract piece.

These reverse Batik pillows from The Decor Guru would go well in a room with the artwork above.

With wedding season upon us here's a great gift idea from Much More Creative. Perfect for an anniversary gift or just because.

I think my blood sugar went up just looking at this week's chocolate feature ! Willy Wonka has come to life with this Wonka Factory Milkshake Martini from Sweet Meets Bakeshop.

Now onto this week's party!

Lavender and Gold Birthday

The  Mumster's birthday was last week and before knowing that we were losing The Purple One, Prince, I'd made some things for the other Purple One, my mom. She truly could have given Prince a run for his money with her love of purple.

I'd picked up the lavender beads at Michaels without really having a plan. The plan came together when I found the lavender, gold, and silver handmade paper which gave me the inspiration for the necklace and bracelet I made.

The bracelet and necklace combine the lavender beads with antique gold. For the pendants, I used antique gold bezels (Darice, avail at JoAnn's) , gold glitter paper (Michaels) and glass domes (CraftFantastic.com).

The necklace is gold chain with sections of lavender and gold beads.

I used the handmade paper to make some altered candles ( plain candles, Dollar Tree) and finished them with strips cut from rhinestone sheets ( DCWV) ribbon, and charms.  I used a leftover scrap of paper to cover the box for the jewelry.

What's a birthday without a card?

The crackled paper is from Oriental Trading company. I'll have a post later in the week featuring more OTC goodies. The flower is suede paper I picked up when I found the handmade papers. I used a Tim Holtz die to cut the flowers.

I had some beads and charms left over from the candles so I used them to make a few ribbon bookmarks. One for my mom and a couple extra as gifts.

The Answer Is Chocolate

Happy Friday Eve all. It's been "Sprummer" here in the PNW...when it's Spring but feels like Summer. 90+ in APRIL! Fortunately things have cooled down and hopefully we don't see those temps again until Summer.

Here are some ideas from last week's party that caught my eye.

Ever since childhood, I've been fascinated with weaving but have never pursued it. Jelica, from A Pretty Fix  has a great tutorial for a mini framed weaving with a lap loom.  I love the colors and the texture and everything about how this turned out.

Here's another fun piece of DIY art from Artsy Va Va. I love the combination of the yardstick background and the Scrabble tiles.

I love word games like Scrabble and I also love Crossword puzzles. How cute is this Birthday card from Lynda Creates for a word nerd in your life?

This week's chocolate feature is almost (ALMOST) too cute to eat. From Sugar Spice and Family Life:

Now on to this week's party!

BFF Open House

The Answer Is Chocolate

Hi all! Hope everyone's having a good week. The Migraine Monster came to visit this week so I'm lucky to get this party up at all.

Thank you all for coming to my little corner of the internet. I know I'm not the biggest blog or party but it means everything to me that you come by each week!

BFF Open House

The Answer Is Chocolate

Happy Friday Eve all. Welcome to another party. Grab a cup of your favorite beverage, maybe a snack and party on!

Some features from last week's party:

I am a total Harry Potter nut ( some would argue just "nut" would suffice). It was a fun part of Grad School Boy's childhood but not gonna lie, I remain an even bigger fan than he ever was. My bucket list includes a trip to the "Wizarding World of Harry Potter" ( the SoCal one opens today) so this DIY tote bag from Falon Loves Life is all kinds of perfect!

Of course after a long day at a theme park you'll want to pamper yourself so this Orange Blossom Sugar Scrub from Woods of Bell Trees would definitely do the trick.

Love glitter but hate the mess? Then glitter tape is your friend. This card from Paper Seedlings is a wonderful layout that would work for many occasions. And did I mention glitter?

Finally, this week's chocolate feature from Lou Lou Girls: Chocolate Chip Cheesecake. Say that three times fast.

Now for this week's fun:

BFF Open House Link Party

The Answer Is Chocolate

Happy Friday and April Eve all? Anyone planning any epic April Fool's Day pranks for tomorrow? I must confess, I'm not so into it. Like pranks me enough!  Thanks for all of the fun ideas from last week's party. Here are a few  that caught my eye:

I have been wanting to try some Sharpie dishware / glassware projects. I have a few pinned and this one from Reviews Chews and How Tos is getting added for sure!

Industrial style is so on trend but it can get pricey. The always creative Mich in LA has a high impact low cost project in this fun lamp makeover.

Spring is always a great time to try some new and fun accessories. Rena from Jewelry Making Journal has several versions of this fun lariat style necklace to try.

And I am just going to let this week's chocolate feature speak for itself. From Sweet Meets Bake Shop

Onto this week's party!

Spring Cards ...$5 Goes A Long Way!

What's this? An actual post? You thought I stopped making things? I know it seems like it. I've actually been making stuff but just been kinda lazy about posting. Trying to get back in the groove.

Paper is my kryptonite. I am helpless around it. And when Michaels does their $5 "Hot Buy" deals on paper stacks well, game over.  You can pay $5 for one card these days! I did restrain myself to just one pad this time.

This is my current fave color palette. Neutrals with black and white and turquoise.

This card used one sheet of paper from the stack that coordinated with a sheet of sentiments. I cut one out, trimmed, and matted it.  Easy Peasy.  All I really had to do was accent it with some coordinating Stickles (Cool Mint)

I used the remainder of the floral sheet for this one along with some coordinating scraps. The sentiment was from my stash. Finished this one off w/ Stickles and coordinating glitter tape.

This is one I made last month but never posted. Papers are from Michaels and the stamp is from Impress. How could I resist a Seattle stamp?! The umbrella image I cut using my Silhouette.

Happy Spring!

BFF Open House Link Party Happy Spring!

The Answer Is Chocolate

Happy Friday Eve and Easter Weekend for everyone celebrating. Is it Spring where you are now that the calendar says it's official? Signs of it here between the raindrops.  Here are some fun Springtime ideas from last week's party.

If you're dyeing eggs this weekend Practical Mom has a great tutorial on these gorgeous marbled eggs.

I'm seeing lots of metallics in home decor and Lynda Creates shared this fun geometric metallic pillow along with the how to.

Nothing says Spring like flowers and Twenty Something in the 2010s share a lovely way to dress up mason jars to hold your Spring blooms.

If you're looking for another kind of egg this weekend, how about these Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough eggs from Sugar Spice and Family Life?

OK now on to this week's party!

Hope everyone's having a fun and festive day and if you're out celebrating, be safe!  My work leprechauns have been busy ( and not in a good way) this week so we'll just go straight to the party and catch up on features next week.

BFF Open House Link Party

The Answer Is Chocolate

Happy Friday Eve all. Another week and time for another party! Some great ideas from last week's party and with St. Patrick's Day just a week away, I thought I'd share some fun ways to celebrate.

Let's start with these fun medallions from Lynda Creates. You'll never guess what she used for the base of these. I bet you won't!

Lynda's idea would be great interspersed with these Captured Clovers from the guys at Crafty Lumberjacks. How did I miss these jars at Michaels?!  The gold beads are the perfect touch.

If like me, you're not exactly a corned beef and cabbage lover but you still like to make a festive St. Patrick's Day dinner, you could add these bacon wrapped asparagus bundles shared by Margaret's Morsels. These are perfect for Easter too. Let me say again...bacon wrapped. Bacon.

Of course you need a fabulous dessert to finish off your St. Patrick's day meal so how about this Deluxe Chocolate Cheesecake ( maybe with some Bailey's?) which you could finish off with an Irish coffee!  From Kimberly at Lou Lou Girls

On to this week's party!

BFF Open House Link Party

The Answer Is Chocolate

Happy Friday Eve all and welcome back to the BFF Open House. Hope you all had a wonderful week and March isn't coming in as too much of a lion for everyone. Let's start with some features from last week's party.

I am all about the DIY wall art and love this idea from Decorating Cents. Andrea added this to her son's "big boy" room but I can think of several even bigger boys for whom this would be a great idea in an office / man cave etc.

Artsy Va Va shared a great image transfer technique . I love how this shabby chic wood block turned out don't you?

Brenda from Much More Creative shared these great reclaimed wood tags for St. Patrick's Day. You won't believe how they started.

This week's chocolate feature is from Diana at Closet Crafter Ohio. Inspired by chocolates her husband brought her from Belgium, she came up with a copycat recipe that I think looks AMAZING!

Now on to this week's party !
