BFF Open House

Happy Friday Eve again already because where did this week go and what did I get done besides not much?! Not because I was busy with something but because I have no clue where this week went.

I do have another workshop I signed up for that I'm excited about and thought I'd share. With the holidays approaching and peak gift giving time, if you have a Cricut you underuse or have been thinking about getting one, here's a wonderful opportunity to learn more. I have no connection to this other than I've taken previous workshops hosted by Abbi and they're always fantastic!

SEPTEMBER 23rd - 27th
Sign up for FREE here

It will include "50+ inspiring handmade Cricut gift projects, card, bow, and wrapping workshops for all skill levels"

I did share my DIY Haunted House, made with two Dollar Tree signs and a wood base from DT.

Now, let's take a look at some great ideas shared at last week's party!

Crazy Little Lovebirds shared a wonderful way to welcome Fall with this Thankful Sign

The Apple Street Cottage shared this gorgeous Wine Bottle Windchime! Speaking of gift giving season, make a few of these!

Hunny I'm Home DIY shared these Rae Dunn-inspired Farmhouse Pumpkins.

Halloween: DIY Haunted House

Back on my Halloween crafting! I "built" my own Haunted House using a few supplies from Dollar Tree, paint, and frames from my stash.

Supplies
  • Wood Haunted House Signs (Dollar Tree)
  • Wood Plank (Dollar Tree)
  • Multi Surface Acrylic Craft Paint (Craft Smart, Michaels)
  • Folk Art Metallic Paint (Walmart)
  • Hot Glue and Tacky Glue

I had these Haunted House wood signs in my stash from last year, and I was smart enough to have picked up a wood plaque I found at Dollar Tree. My brain came up with the idea of using them together to build a Haunted House. My plan is to put a flameless candle in the middle to give it that haunted feel.

I painted the wood plaque base with Craft Smart Multi-Surface black acrylic paint. Then I painted both house signs (both sides) with the same paint.

After they dried and I made sure they were facing the right way, I covered the outsides with school glue.

While still tacky, I lightly brushed with the rose gold paint to create a weathered old house look. While that was drying, I got out a few small frames to use for windows and a door.

I painted the round frames with the rose gold paint.

The "door" frame I painted first with black then dry brushed with the rose gold.

To assemble the house, I used a combination of hot glue and tacky glue along the bottom of each side of the house then attached to the base. I find that the combination helps things stay where they're supposed to!

I also picked up some variegated bottle brush trees at Dollar Tree that I'll add when it's time to put out but I couldn't wait to share. These signs are ones I see year to year so hopefully if this interests you, you can find them!

A haunting we will go...

Happy Friday Eve Creative Peeps! I hope everyone's had a joyful and creative week, whether you've made something (not me) or have been inspired by others (definitely me). I have been in and out of stores and wow is Halloween going to be FUN! Lots of new takes I'm seeing. Bright pinks and oranges along with the traditional colors. Michaels, JoAnn, and Dollar Tree (my "haunts") have fabulous new collections including a paper stack I picked up for this years Halloween cards.

Upcoming Crafting Event that you don't want to miss!

Nancy, at A Better Life Blog, is hosting Crafty Con Sept 4-6 which will feature workshops from excellent designers and makers. If you want to up your crafting game, check it out and yes, it's FREE! (There is a paid version all-access pass too). I always learn something new in a workshop!

Now let's take a look at some of the creativity shared at last week's party!

Hot Glue is often overlooked as a creative tool. Yes we all use it to glue things but it can be used decoratively too as Fresh Vintage by Lisa S shows here with her Altered Art Journal Covers

Living in the Sonoran desert, I love cacti! Each one is unique and has its own personality. Creatively Beth shared how to make these fun Craft Stick Cacti

Thrifting Wonderland shared great ways to bring Fall into Home Decor

Finally, all things apple scream Fall and these Applesauce Donuts from The Wooden Spoon Effect are no exception!

Thank you to everyone who linked up and can't wait to see what you share this week!

BFF Open House

Happy Friday Eve once again Creative Peeps! Had a WONDERFUL visit with our son, running around, seeing Deadpool Wolverine, and eating too much! We raised him to be independent and lead his own life which has taken him out of state for college, grad school, and life, and while yes, it's hard, we give them wings so they'll fly, right? We're also very thankful that he has strong roots and we remain close, seeing each other when we can, talking and texting all the time. For us, that's what the job of parenting was all about.

I don't know about you but I'm really ready for Fall! Maybe it's because I live where it's warm and sunny most of the year. Maybe it's seeing all of the fun Fall and Halloween-themed things in stores. Or both. Probably both! I'm excited to resume working on some Halloween projects.

Wonderful ideas shared at last week's party so let's take a look at a few ideas!

Bluesky At Home shared these PERFECT Fall Plates easy to DIY!

A Life Unfolding shared these gorgeous Fall Floral Pumpkins! I love the muted colors.

Master Pieces of My Life shared these fun No Bake Dog Treats. As a dog mom, can't wait to try!

Finally, for those of us who didn't make it to the Olympics, Rose Bakes made sure we can have a little bit of the Olympics at home with these Viral Olympics Chocolate Muffins. Gold Medal worthy!

Thanks to all who linked up. I truly appreciate and love you coming each week and sharing your talents. Now let's see what you've been up to this week.

Happiest of Friday Eves all. Over the moon because our son arrives today for a visit. When your adult child lives in another state and has their own adult responsibilities, any time you get to see them is indeed a treat worthy of Christmas/Birthday/Favorite Holiday rolled into one!

It's been a busy month at Casa Chocolate so far with Mr. Chocolate returning from a road trip to visit his Dad and now getting to see our son. Unfortunately he came back with an aggravated back so I didn't get time to make anything this week.

Loved, as always, seeing all the wonderful ideas shared at last week's party so here are a few ideas!

Steph Creates shared this Dollar Tree Round Floral Hanging Farmhouse Decoration using one of my favorite quotes.

Back to school season is here and germs go back to school too so Hunny I'm Home DIY has the perfect BTS Teacher Hand Sanitizer Gift complete with a free printable!

Life of Two Snowbirds has a great idea to preserve vacation memories with this Beach Vacation Sand Art

Finally, here's a great way to get some veggies into a treat. Our Tiny Nest shared this yummy looking Chocolate Espresso Zucchini Bread.

Thank you to everyone who linked up and can't wait to see what you've been up to this week! Have a fabulous weekend all.

BFF Open House

Happy August! July flew by like all the months seem to do and this month already marks back to school for many. Those stores that don't already have Halloween on display no doubt will soon. JoAnn and Michaels definitely do and Dollar Tree is starting.

I shared another July-O-Ween project this week: Stacked Poison Boxes (because I couldn't come up with a more creative title for a project that just kind of fell together!) and some of you are working on Christmas!

Let's take a look at some features from last week's party!

Crazy Little Love Birds shared one of my favorite kinds of projects with these Metal Can Floral Holders. A green craft in every sense of the word!

Sonata Home Design shared a wonderful garden craft in this DIY Concrete Cement Planter.

I told you that some Makers have started on Christmas and Master Pieces of My Life is one of them! Check out these Elegantly Rustic Outdoor Ornaments. You could even make your own cement planter to put them in!

Finally, one thing I haven't tried in my Instant Pot is baking. Fat Dad Foodie may just change that because look at this Instant Pot Chocolate Layered Cake! YUM!

Thank you to all who linked up and can't wait to see what's in store this week!
