Cardmaking: Layered Rose Heart Valentine's Day Cards

My first creative love is cardmaking. I've written before how it makes my heart soar when someone receives a card and lets me know how much they like it and I'm honored whenever people display them as part of their annual seasonal decor. The post-office doesn't always love me, I'm sure, but I support them by buying stamps on stamps!

I love (pun intended) making cards this time of year because showing love to friends and family is also part of Valentine's Day. This year I chose a Layered Rose Heart SVG via my Creative Fabrica subscription.

Supplies:
  • 110 lb Cardstock (Recollections, Michaels)
  • Valentine's Themed Papers (Sweethearts Day Stack, Michaels, last year)
  • Coordinating Glitter and Foil Cardstocks
  • Foam Dots
  • Adhesive Tape Runner
  • Embellishments

I usually pick up a new themed stack every year but I am also trying to be good and I still had plenty of sheets from this stack I bought last year. It includes printed transparencies,  as well as papers.

I cut the base layer of each heart from white cardstock and the other two layers from glitter and foil cardstock.

My layer construction was solid white, then glitter, then foil, attaching the glitter layer with foam dots then the foil layer with glue using a fine tip on the bottle.

I really like how the glitter layer peeks through!

I layered a paper panel, then a transparency panel, then my layered heart.

Time to embellish! Since the cut of the heart was intricate, I wanted to keep it simple and had picked up these pink and red self-adhesive rhinestones from DAISO (Japanese Dollar Store!) and placed these as shown. Done!

Free Valentine's Printables

I laughed when I was at the grocery store the day after Christmas and they'd already moved on to Valentine's Day. It seems like we jump from one holiday to the next at light speed from Star Wars and it's no different in the crafting world.

So naturally, since it's January, we're focused on Valentine's, right? I have a few projects I've worked on that I'm excited to share but for now, here are some free printables to get things started.

Creative Fabrica and Procreate!

Would love to see if you use them!

Winter Decor: Layered Winter Shadowbox

Another Winter transitional decor project...this time a Layered Winter Shadowbox.

Supplies:

  • Layered SVG (Creative Fabrica)
  • Winter Themed Papers
  • Shadowbox Frame
  • Adhesive Foam Dots

I found an image on Creative Fabrica which I downloaded and imported into Cricut Design Space. I sized it to fit my 8x8 shadow box frame and decided I didn't need all the layers so deleted a few using only four of the eight layers.

I used foam dots on the underside of each layer and attached the three cut layers.

Once the layers were assembled, I grabbed some rhinestones and added them to the snowflakes then framed it.

Creative Fabrica subscription plus Procreate equals more Printables than I know what to do with. Which is why sharing is caring right? You can download these here

Thanksgiving Decor: Glitter and Vellum Candleholders

Since I was out of crafting commission for most of October, I did what I never do which is skip decorating for Thanksgiving and go straight to Christmas. But, I thought I should have SOMETHING on the table that looks festive for Thanksgiving Dinner so I made these easy Candleholders from glitter paper and vellum!

Supplies
  • Digital Cutting Machine (I used my Cricut)
  • Cut file (I used one from Creative Fabrica)
  • Glitter Cardstock
  • Vellum
  • Double Sided Tape
  • Glue Stick
  • Hot Glue and Glue Gun

I uploaded the file to Cricut Design Space and didn't resize since I knew the dimensions worked with the glass candles I always keep on hand. It already has the perforation for the score lines and I just scored them manually using my scoring board and bone folder.

You can use your digital cutter to cut the vellum but it was just as easy to use my papercutter. Each panel is 7.5 x 2.5. I put a strip of double-sided tape on the bottom of each perforated/scored panel and attached the bottom of the vellum panels. The top was more narrow than my tape so to secure the top of the panels, I just ran a glue stick on the available space.

I love the kind that goes on purple but dries clear!

I used my glue gun and ran a line of glue on the tab that folds in to close the holder. Glitter paper can be stubborn with other adhesives. These slide right over the glass candles. Easy Peasy. Was all done before Mr. Chocolate even woke up!

Free Printable: Fall Is My Favorite Color

Even if it doesn't feel like it here in the desert where we're still in triple digits but given weather elsewhere, trust me, I am NOT complaining and continuing to hold all those in Milton's path and Helene's wake in my thoughts.

Before an epically stupid "yes, I knew better" move of falling off of my kitchen countertop while Halloween decorating, one ER and one trauma center visit, and having to have my knee stitched back together, I got my house mostly haunted. What didn't get finished will just have to wait until next year when I will no longer be climbing on countertops!

So...my creativity is once again limited to Procreate, Creative Fabrica, and my iPad and sharing this Fall (pun intended) printable. Please download here

Gothic Printables with Procreate and Creative Fabrica

I haven't been making physical things as much as I'd like right now but I have been having way too much fun creating things digitally. I can't say enough about getting my money's worth out of my Creative Fabrica subscription. Not selling, just sharing.

I'm also learning Procreate as I go...I do better by playing around, finding what I'm trying to do via You Tube etc. and have taken a couple of free classes. So I don't profess to be an expert but I had a ton of fun with these and sharing is caring right?

I combined backgrounds I made in Procreate with images from Creative Fabrica and quotes for the season from some of my favorite writers.

A quote from Mary Shelley's Frankenstein to remind us about unleashing the power of the monsters we create.

Can't do gothic without Poe!

I have no doubt that Thoreau was an introvert like me!

And just for fun, nothing beats the love of a good BOOk!

If you download, please do so here. And if you use, would love to see!
