Happy Friday Eve all, and I hope the first week of March has treated you well! I can't believe St. Patricks is in less than 10 days and Easter is at the end of the month, then we'll already be in April! This is the time of year we're all supposed to be getting an early start on holiday gift making right? At least that's what I tell  myself in October/November about the coming year. Anyone else?

This week I shared a fun impromptu gift I made for Mr. Chocolate combining his love of Disney and trains: Layered Disney Inspired Train

Master Pieces of My Life shared an elegant way to add some St. Patrick's Decor without breaking the bank by using a thrifted frame! 

Nothing says Welcome Spring like pretty flowers. Blue Sky At Home has a beautiful idea with this Garden Style Spring Wreath! 

Finally, Rose Bakes shared these wonderful St. Patrick's Cake Pops which would be a fun way to celebrate.

Papercrafting: Layered Disney Inspired Train

 

Walt Disney said that he wanted Disneyland to be a place for everyone, young, old, and in between. And one of the things we love is riding the Disney Railroad around the park. Since Mr.Chocolate likes trains period, I made him something special for a recent birthday that captures both! 

Supplies:

• 8x8 Shadowbox Frame (Michaels)
• Disney Themed Background Paper
• Red, Yellow, Black Cardstock
• Train Cut File (Silhouette Online Store)
• Foam Tape and Foam Squares
• Digital Cutting Machine (Cricut Explore Air 2)

He's got quite the Disney collection and this idea was inspired by a Funko Pop I got him for Christmas. Walt conducting his Railroad which he did occasionally do around the park.

I used one of my go to frames from my stash and then cut the background paper to size. 

I imported the SVG file from the Silhouette Online Store into Cricut Design Space , sized, and then duplicated the original and removed some of the cut out portions using the Contour feature in the software. I assembled the layers using foam tape and foam squares. 

I tacked the background paper to the back of the frame with double-sided tape then attached the train to it and assembled the frame.  

I also made him a coordinating card! 

He was very surprised and happy! 

BFF Open House All Party No Features

 

Happy Leap Day and Happy Birthday to Leap Year Babies! Have had some unplanned appointments this week so this will be an "All party / no features" party this week.

Happy Friday Eve All. February's been a blur so I'm kinda ready to be moving on to March while at the same time, I can't believe it's almost MARCH?! Since we did a couple of weeks of grocery delivery because we were down with COVID, it was a shock yesterday when we made it back to the grocery store and both paused in confusion seeing all of the Easter stuff! Stuck in a time warp since the last time we were there it was Valentine's everywhere. 

Spring is around the corner and it's fun to see so many Spring and St. Patrick's ideas. Let's take a look.

The Apple Street Cottage shared a pretty and practical idea that we can probably all take advantage with this Upcycled Candle Jar tutorial. 

Organized Home shared thisvery cute Leprechaun Hat idea that would be fun for any St. Patrick's table! 

With Spring approaching, comes Spring cleaning which often includes going through our stash. Like paper, it's hard for me to part with fabric scraps. Sum of Their Stories has a great way to use them to make New Usable Cloth! 

Finally, how cute is this idea from Our Tiny Nest...Leprechaun Bait Chex Mix! The book is a must, too.

BFF Open House

 

Happy Chocolate Recovery Day aka the day after Valentine's Day. I hope if you celebrated, you had a LOVEly day. We're still recovering from COVID so it was low-key. We're longtime married and don't make too much of it anyway since we have made it a priority to express our love all the time. 

This week I shared the Valentine's Day cards I made for family and friends. Life's uncertainties make it important to me to let the people I love, know.

Papercrafting: Valentine's Day Cards Sweetheart Day by Recollections

 

Recipents have received these, so now I can share this year's Valentine's Day cards I made for family and friends. 

Supplies:

• Sweetheart Day Valentine's Stack (Recollections, Michaels)
• Pink Foil Cardstock (Recollections, Michaels)
• Pink 110lb Cardstock (Recollections, Michaels)
• Layered Cut File (Designbundles.net)
• Digital Cutting Machine (Cricut Explore Air 2)
• Tape Gun
• Self Adhesive Rhinestones

I am hopelessly and forever  in love with new papers when they come out. So despite always having leftover papers from previous stacks, I see a new one and I'm like Doug the dog from "UP" when he sees asquirrel! 

This collection has a combination of printed, glitter, and acetate papers. I used the white glitter sheets as the bottom layer and the pink foiled paper for the top. The image is from a mega bundle I bought during one of Designbundles.net Dollar Deals. I attached the two layers using foam squares. 

I cut and scored the pink cardstock into 5x7 cards. Then used white cardstock, pieces of patterned paper and pieces of acetate from the collection as panels. 

I love printed acetate! It gives a certain extra something. I am hoping to see more of it included in the future stacks I know I'll buy!

Happy Friday Eve, Creative Peeps! Our track record of managing to avoid COVID unfortunately came to an end this week. Mr. Chocolate first, then me following by a couple of days. So far, not too bad and thankful we are up to date on our vaccines. We've been cautious because I'm high risk. 

Jumping right to features. 

Cardmaking remains my first love so seeing this Valentine's Card Making Station from Building Our Hive stole my heart! 

Steph Creates shared this simple and fun Tissue Paper on Wood Valentine's Heart with supplies from Dollar Tree, her specialty. 

Creatively Beth shared a pretty and sugar free idea with these Valentine's Themed Felt Fortune Cookies. 

Finally, Rose Bakes shared these glorious and Perfect Valentine's Brownies!
