BFF Open House Link Party #92 Wrap Up and Features

Thanks to everyone who linked up at Friday’s BFF Open House. Each week is a visual and creative feast! Let’s get right to some of the items that caught my eye.

I am in total love with this grey and yellow paisley chair makeover from 24 Cottonwood Lane. So bright and fresh don’t you think?

This stenciled pallet clock from Bev at Flamingo Toes would go really well with it:

Even though Valentine’s Day has come and gone, love is eternal. Check out this adorable Love Bird themed art piece from Bethany at Pitter and Glink:

And this week’s chocolate feature is just the right size for two love birds to share:

YUM. Chocolate cream cheese “baby” cake from Erika, The Hopeless Housewife.
Again, thanks to everyone who linked up and hope to see you all back again “Friday Eve” . Make it a creative week!

Blue Moon Beads Urban Warrior Chain and Pearl Necklace

Urban Warrior Pearls and Pendants

Blue Moon Beads has a line that was made just for me! It’s called “Urban Warrior” and while I’m a suburbanite and definitely not warrior like, the pieces this line includes are 100% me. Bold metals in antiqued gold, silver, and copper. Chunky chains and funky elements. Very Industrial Chic. Just stole my heart. I’m sharing my latest design team project made using this line.

Blue Moon Antique Gold

These are some of the supplies I used. You can find the Urban Warrior line and other BMB supplies at JoAnn's.

I don’t have pierced ears but when I looked at the ear wires I decided I could easily straighten them out and use them as eye pins. So I did. As much in love as I am with the metal pieces, I used light bronze glass pearls to contrast the industrial look with a completely opposite effect.

Blue Moon Urban Warrior Closeup

I used my straightened ear wires turned eye pins to string the pearls, and attached gold and metal pendant pieces  to heavy gold chain with silver jump rings.

Urban Warrior Metal Teardrop

I attached the chain to a multi strand waxed cotton thread necklace with large connector rings.

Love and Chocolate Chalkboard Printable

Love and Chocolate

First, did you know that Michele at The Scrap Shoppe is a mind reader?! She must be because just as I went to look for a red chalkboard background, up she popped in my reader offering not only red, by 7 other colors of chalkboard backgrounds on her blog FREE for you and me to download. She had to have read my mind.  Thank you Michele.

I like to think that Charles Schultz wrote this just for me but I’m not that vain. Still, it is one of my faves.

So in preparation for International Chocoholics Day , er I mean Valentine’s Day, I thought I’d make a printable to share. Click to bring to full resolution (it's sized to 8x10) then right click to save as.

You should also check out Michele’s collection of chalkboard fonts!

Happy Heart Day!

Vintagey Valentine's Cards

Valentine's Cards 2013

I love sending Valentine’s to family and friends. Consistent with my paper addiction, Valentine’s Day was just the excuse reason I needed to pick up another  Recollections paper pack at Michaels called “Union Square”. It’s full of vintage papers in muted shades of red, black and neutral, with lots of damask overlays on text and assorted other patterns.

Heart Bunny

A few of the cards were made using a digital image of “Alice’s Rabbit” found here : Free Vintage Digital Stamps.

I downloaded, sized and printed on white cardstock, then colored in the rabbit with alcohol markers and colored pencils. I decided to only color in spots of his vest etc.

Heart Bunny

I trimmed one of the images to use as a mask , laid it on top of the other images and then “spounced” around the exposed edges with a brush and “Antique Linen” distress ink.  Trimmed and mounted my rabbit panels on black panels embossed using a fleur-de-lis embossing folder by Cricut.

Hybrid Digital Valentine's Card

The cards are 5x7 ( I used blank cards I had on hand) and I covered the front with torn pieces of papers from the pack. Embellished with coordinating washi tape, hearts punched from scraps, Prima flowers, rhinestones, and some ticket stickers from my stash.

For some of the other cards, I tore a panel from a page that already had LOVE written out in glitter, along with other washi tapes and embellishments.

or stamped the word LOVE onto a book page and then mounted with coordinating papers. My gold heart there is made from loops of mizuhiki cord I found at the Japanese dollar store chain Daiso.

Your family will love you ( even more than they do already ) if you whip up a batch of these Reeses's Brownies from Jovana at Taste of August.

Peanutbutter and Chocolate Pretzels from Amy at Ameroonie Designs. I am in love with that sweet paper rose in her picture too!

Happy Valentine's Week sweet readers.

Key To My Heart Wall Art

Published On:

Key To My Heart Valentine's

I love it when a plan you didn’t have comes together! But first...if you're looking for the BFF Open House link party, it's still going on right here . Great ideas to check out and link up your own.

So. I had this big antique metal key in my stash and wasn’t sure what I was going to do with it and then I was going through my stamp stash and ba-da-bing.

Key To My Heart Tag

The stamp has the sentiment that brought everything together but more on that later.

I had this fantastic black and white glass heart in my Blue Moon Beads design team materials. LOVED it from moment I saw it but wanted to save it for just the right thing.

Blue Moon Beads Antique Gold

I pulled it out along with some antique gold chain, findings, and this metal tassel pendant. All by Blue Moon.

Blue Moon Metal Tassle

I attached pieces of a toggle clasp from the findings package to two lengths of chain and glued them to the back of my key.

Blue Mean Antique Gold Chain

Metal Key Blue Moon Chain

While that was setting, I worked on my focal point. Using the glass heart, metal pendant, another key from my stash, some ribbons and an antique book ring ( 7 Gypsies) I just kind of played around until I liked the result. This involved more findings from the same package.

Blue Moon Glass Heart

Key To My Heart Focal

I tied my focal to the book ring and then the book ring to the chain and finished up with some strips of leftover drop cloth. And now we’re back to the tag using the stamp that started it all.

Key To My Heart Tag

Small manila tag, dusted and swiped with Distress Ink ( antique linen) with a scrap of leftover paper and a piece of washi tape. I  debated about saving this to give Mr. C. for Valentine’s Day but decided I wanted to look at it now. It’s hanging in our bedroom where we both can see it. From the moment I got this key he’s claimed it as his. Well who knew he was right? ‘Cause he does hold the key to my heart.
