Earth Day Printable 2012 (Print on Recycled Paper!)

Earth Day has always been extra special for us because it was the birthday of one of our best friends. Sadly we lost her to cancer a few years ago.

She loved Earth Day…not just because it was her birthday but especially because she was a pre-school educator. I used to save all of my paper scraps for her to use with her kids and they loved getting new batches of paper to play with. She always had a fun Earth Day project lined up to do with them.

Earth Day

I made this printable in her honor and to celebrate Earth Day. Of course if you print it, print it on recycled paper.

Happy Bearthday Kristine.

Gold, White, And Sparkly Bunny Easter Cards

Back when my favorite paper store was going out of business, I found this gorgeous handmade paper that I knew immediately I would use for either Easter or Mother’s Day cards.

Easter Cards Handmade Paper

The pic doesn’t do this justice but it’s a gorgeous rough silk like texture with metallic painted flowers.

So that was a couple of months ago when I thought I had tons of time until either of these holidays, then the calendar sped up and life happened and EEEK! It’s time to make Easter cards!

Thankfully, printables can be re-sized so I used my HOP printable as my card focal.

Gold and White Easter Card

I used a cream cardstock for the card, then a gold speckled vellum for the background paper. Layered my handmade paper on top and then my re-sized printable, mounted on a coordinating panel.

Easter Cards Stickles

Since everything looks better with glitter, I went over my little bunny with Stickles glitter glue so Mr. HOP would pop.

What’s a bunny without a little adhesive pearl cotton tail?  Other embellishments include punched flowers and more Stickles dots of glitter.

Hippity Hoppity Easter's on its waaaaaayyyyyy.

Playing With Printables

OK I'm one of those people who when I get on a kick...you know the rest! I feel like such a dork because while I have played around with graphic design: A.) My brain just won't work with Photoshop so B.) I keep going back to the program I know which is Broderbund's Printshop but didn't know how to share anything like a printable. I've been able to share some PDF files but I wanted to play just like others who have printables you can click on from directly within a blog post. Did I mention I'm stubborn and I want what I want? Did I also mention I'm one of those people who hate manuals because I think I can intuit my way through? Uh-huh. So I finally broke down and consulted "the manual" and figured it out!!! Sssshhhh...don't tell anyone.

I love the "Keep..........and ............On" variations so here are a few I came up with to share:

Thanksgiving Prep..Not The Food

I'm hoping to swap out my Halloween decorations this week for Thanksgiving and have been working on a few new additions to the stuff that's still in the bins. It's really hard not to add to your decor with all the wonderful ideas and talent in the blogosphere. Since Jessica at Craftily Ever After can't stop making these great takes on the "Keep Calm  & Carry On" poster, I can't help printing them! I already framed one for my mantle but she made two more so:
I took two images from my graphics program, (corn and a turkey) converted them to black and white and chose a crackled transparent effect . You can see I didn't quite size the "cranberry" sign correctly ( even though my screen said I did!) but it'll do for now.

I've gone a little banner happy:
Created the letters in my graphics program and cut the other shapes using the Cricut Accent Essentials cart. Haven't decided if this will end up on the mantle or the banister. It's hanging on a strip of tulle with paper covered clothespins. Here's a better look at the letters:
The silver paper here looks bluish but it's really pewter in person

Added clear damask stickers to some of the letters
I've wanted to make one of those word jumble things ( is this Subway Art? I don't know) so started small and did this on a 4x4 wood plaque. Just printed the words on scrapbook paper and Mod Podged onto the wood.
