Easiest Card Ever...Thank You Graphics Fairy

Seriously, it took me longer to write this post than to make the card. Also seriously, with resources like The Graphics Fairy, my stamps are feeling seriously neglected. Seriously! I'm still having fun w/ my bag o diecuts but I printed this out earlier to maximize the use of my Avery clear label paper ( when I print stuff, I try to fill up as much space as possible).
Print image from The Graphics Fairy here. I printed mine on clear label paper and adhered to a cream cardstock scrap or you could print directly on paper. Mounted on black and cream scrap, another cream scrap, and Halloween paper scrap. Adhere to card w/ coordinating Halloween paper panel. I usually cut my own cards (5x7) so always have the ends left over. Cut one to fit the width of the patterned paper, tore the edges..it's what I do...added a black border sticker. Done.

Thank you Karen, The Amazing Graphics Fairy!

How I Spent World Card Making Day

Well not the whole day. I did venture out to Goodwill, and ended up at the Dollar Tree for some of those glitter skulls I've seen around blogland:

which I put on top of some candle holders I made earlier and put on my mantel with on of my skully plates. Then I went through my Halloween stuff and got rid of some things and did some decorating. Here's something I did BB ( before blogging):
It's just acrylic paint on outdoor canvas (the kind you use for seat cushions, pillows etc.). I drew the ghosts and bats freehand several years ago. But then I did make some Halloween cards. It was card making day after all. I also realized I'm addicted to the K&Co line. I hadn't really thought about it until I started blogging and realized how much of their stuff I use. I bought this package of diecuts  in August:
174 Pieces!!! And the photo looks like it's uploading right, but then flips. Oh well
Generally I'm not a whimsical person, but these were fun and although I'm getting more "serious" in my Halloween decor, Halloween's a time for fun and whimsy so I went with that for some Halloween cards. I actually kept these pretty simple because they will be mailed and the post office and I disagree on embellishments!
Can't see it in the pic but these diecuts have glitter already on them! Added an orange rhinestone nose
I've since added black rhinestones to the owl's eyes

The spider is a leftover from some stuff I'd printed on Avery clear label paper

I decorated this pumpkin die with separate eyeball diecuts from the pack

I'm a Bad Blogger, And "Hoo's Birthday" card

Recently two wonderfully kind people, Melissa from Those Northern Skies and Ashley from Life After the Aisle, have surprised me with blog awards. I really appreciate that anyone thinks I'm worthy of these and try to do my best to pass them on timely but boy have I been bad about these! And continuing being a bad blogger ( shame shame shame) I'm going to combine the two. Ssshhh don't tell the blog award people!

Melissa passed on the Ms. Bright Side award to me (thank you!)

and Ashley gave me the One Lovely Blog award ( thank you too!)
The combined rules are:
1. List the top ten things that make me happy.
2. Share with my favourite bloggers and ask them to do the same.
3. Link the blogs I choose and link the blogs of the people who gave it to me.
4. Accept the award. Post it on your blog with the name of the person who has granted the award and his or her blog link.
5. Pay it forward to 15 other lovely bloggers.

Top 10 Things That Make Me Happy (not in order of importance )

In the "paying it forward" part, (also something I really really love and believe in) since I have to limit it to 15 blogs, here goes, but it's hard because I follow so many amazing blogs. And if I happen to pick you and you're a blog that doesn't do awards, no worries...I know several don't and  I won't cry...too much...just kidding...totally understand.

Stashbusting September Project #3: Getting Scrappy With It

I have a slight problem with paper. Not quite ready for the Hoarders people to come visit ( Mr. Chocolate might disagree) but what can I say, I love paper! I also hate throwing the scraps away. So I've done everything from keeping zip-loc bags of scraps by color to my current solution...one bin for anything smaller than 12" in length and one for 12" long scraps. It made sense at the time.
Bin O Scraps
I needed to make some cards and since I'm doing the Stashbusting September challenge, decided I shouldn't cut up brand new paper (except for the card itself). To the scrap bin Batman! Picked out some complementary colors for each card:
Went to one of my ( hangs head in shame) sticker binders ( plural) and pulled out some "Magenta Peel Offs" ( ghosts of stamp shows past) and put them on scrap pieces to become the focal of the cards:
Trimmed, mounted with coordinating scraps, and then used other scraps to make the background for the card. Dug around in my embellishment bin and found some vellum tags, self adhesive rhinestones, and here are the two cards:
Eleventy-bajillion scraps left to go.

Vintage "Diamond" Birthday Card

We celebrated a 75th birthday this weekend, and with diamonds being the traditional item associated with 75th anniversaries, I decided to go with that theme. I used sheet music from an old book of the same that I bought at a used book store, glued to numbers I cut out on my Cricut from a recycled cereal box.I also cut a circle out and covered it w/ sheet music to serve as a base.  I wrapped a silver pipecleaner from a package I bought on sale after Christmas last year ( I mean in preparation for Christmas THIS year because I'm just that organized...mkay, that works) around the circle and stuck the numbers on top w/ foam tape. I think it's a vintage-y looking card...maybe of a type from around the time the recipient was born?

I had a package of tulle circles I picked up at the $1 Tree and folded those in quarters which I put behind the circle thingy and then embellished the number with adhesive "diamonds". NOTE: not a mailing friendly card...best given in person.

Some Cards...

My first crafting love is cardmaking and my addiction is paper. I'm not a paper snob; I love everything from expensive handmade papers (especially Japanese Washi papers) to "ordinary" copy paper. Old paper, new paper, you name it I love it. I get giddy whenever JoAnn's or Michaels has scrapbook paper 4 or 5 for $1 and the cashiers always ask me: "What are you making" and I usually have no idea at the time. I just know that you can't have too much paper.

I'm in intense card mode from about September through December (Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas... for a list that goes from about  15-20 people for Halloween  to 60 or so for Christmas ). January slows down to a couple of birthdays, then February is Valentine's day and birthdays and the March / April picks back up with Easter, Mother's Day, Father's Day etc. with birthdays and other occasions sprinkled in. So Summer is not a big card time for me but I like that because in those other "high production" times, I'm usually using the same papers / colors etc. and while I put love into each card, when you're making multiples it's not the same as making one for a single purpose.

I got a Cricut Expression for Christmas ( I love you Mr. Chocolate!) and that's opened a whole 'nother box of crazy for me.

Here are a few recent ones:
BIRTHDAY BOY

This is a card I made for my Nephew's birthday. I had fun using the "Doodle Charms" cartridge to make the seahorses and just tore ( did I mention I love , love, love tearing paper?) the yellow and white panel mounted on the aqua. The letters are "wave" alphabet stickers I had that spell out BIRTHDAY. And even though he's a boy, I'm addicted to self adhesive rhinestones so those are what I used for the eyes.

FATHER'S DAY

Since we had a rainy Memorial Day weekend, it was a good time to work on some Father's Day cards. I always have a hard time with "guy" cards and only have a couple "guy" stamps,  but I loved this vintage bicycle from The Graphics Fairy and thought it would be good for Father's Day so I imported it into PrintShop ( I have Adobe but I am useless with it) , created the sentiment and printed out using the business card option since I was making multiples. I added a bronzy-brown dot of Stickles glitter glue to the center of each wheel to match the papers.

GRADUATION

This last one is a graduation card I did for a friend's daughter. She's graduating from HS and I liked the idea of discovery so I used my "Graphically Speaking" Cricut Cartridge to make the word jumble, and mounted it onto a panel with some handmade silver scraps ( because we never throw out scraps right!) and blinged it up with some rhinestones.
